South Bay Baptist Church exists for the purpose of exalting Christ’s name, equipping Christ’s people, and extending Christ’s invitation. The foundational principle underlying our efforts in these three areas is the great commandment: Loving God with everything we have and loving others as ourselves (Matt. 22:37-40). The fulfillment of our mission is pursued understanding that ministry is service; as we serve one another, the local community, and the whole world (Eph. 4:12). The power behind our ministry comes from the Lord, as we devote ourselves to being people of prayer (Acts 1:14; 2:42).
EXALTING CHRIST’S NAME – Bringing glory to God through worship. Worshipping God is the most important task of each believer and of the church corporately (Deut. 6:13; Luke 10:41-42; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Pet. 2:9).
EQUIPPING CHRIST’S PEOPLE – Bringing growth to believers through edification. Building up Christians in the faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ must be an essential part of our church (Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 14:12; Eph. 4:12; Col. 1:28).
EXTENDING CHRIST’S INVITATION – Bringing the gospel to the world through evangelism. Reaching the lost with the message of salvation through Christ is to be passionately pursued in our local community and through missionary efforts around the globe (Matt. 28:18-20; Luke 19:10; Acts 1:8; 13:47).
